A Bit About Gurnek

Theodore Rose, 17,  whose nickname is Theo, is a member of the all-youth board of advisors of the We Cancerve Movement, Inc.


"I found interest in WeCancerve because it was a way in which I could help my community directly and effectively," said Theo. 


Before joining We Cancerve's leadership team, Theo volunteered with We Cancerve's Camp Happy, as it went virtual, as well as book cleanings, packaging breakfast bags and beach in a bucket. Once on the board he became involved with projects like the We Cancerve Children's Libraries, Eggstra Special Easter and Camp Happy. 


Outside of We Cancerve, he participates in sports all year keeping himself physically active with Cross Country, Indoor and Outdoor Track. For the past three years, he's participted in Mock Trial and was named captain during the 2021-2022 academic year.  He also participates in Together We Rise, a tutoring service sponsored by Harford County Public Schools, and is a member of the Boy Scouts holding a leadership position for four out of six years he's been affiliated. He's currently a Life Scout.


He's enrolled in the Global Studies International Baccalaureate program at Edgewood High School. Through academic rigor, he's been able to participate in the National Honors Society, National French Honors Society, as well as the National Social Studies Honors Society.
