Jaydn Betters, age 13, is a member of the all-youth board of advisors of the We Cancerve Movement, Inc. Since 2018, she has volunteered to help with several of the nonprofit’s projects. Most notable are the Eggstra Special Easter Bags-kits, where she solicited donations from the community, helped decorate and stuff the Bags-kits, and assisted with multiple deliveries to hospitals, homeless shelters, and an orphanage. She also helped clean and restock inventory at LaMagnifique Boutique, an onsite clothing closet for teen girls living in a foster care group home, in preparation for the Second Annual Open House. Jaydn served as one of the hostesses and Bingo Caller at the Open House; and she helped her mother prepare desserts for the Open House residents, volunteers, and guests.
As part of We Cancerve, she has volunteered with Camp Happy, an onsite camp for children living at two transitional housing facilities in Harford County. She served as one of the Youth Counselors, and was instrumental in organizing a field trip to a local farm and securing a morning of horse-back riding for the campers. She also organized STEM events for one of the locations to introduce kids to fun Science activities.
She and her family have been volunteering with the United Way for over six years. They have volunteered to prepare holiday dinners for the homeless and those in need within our community. She has spent the last two years as a volunteer for Harford County’s Meals on Wheels program where she volunteers as a helper to package and deliver foods to local elderly and shut in participants. For the past four years, she has been a presenter at the Maryland STEM Career Fair for Girls and a presenter at the Bel Air High School Biomed Summer STEM Program where she teaches incoming freshman BioMed students fun science activities.
Jaydn was honored during the Harford’s Most Beautiful award ceremony in 2018, and was recognized for her service to the community at a banquet hosted by her local councilman.
In 2014, she received First Place and named an Honorary Baltimore Raven in the NFLs Play 60 PPEK challenge, which encourages kids to get out and play for at least 60 minutes a day. As a 4.0 GPA student she was honored at the with Distinguished Honor Roll banquet.
Jaydn has played baseball for three years followed by three years of softball. She is currently on the Forest Hill Recreational Travel Softball Team. She is a member of the Bel Air Middle School STEP Team, Bel Air Middle School – STARS club and Bel Air Middle School Choral Member. She was also a part of the Twirltastix Team of Harford County.
