Snack Attack!

Did you know that children who live with their families in area homeless shelters often do not receive after-school snacks?

We Cancerve Movement, Inc. created "Snack Attack" in 2013 when we learned that area school children, who live in homeless shelters, typically do not receive  after-school snacks. They also do not routinely receive snacks during holiday, spring and summer breaks from school.  We know how a snack can help stave off hunger

between planned meals. We also know that snacks heighten social interactions among children

because snacks are meant to be fun, delicious, portable and ideally nutritious.  For those reasons, we've expanded our Snack Attack initiative to reach more children -- many experiencing food insecurity and

even hospitalized children who grow tired of hospital food.  We invite the community to help us

collect individually-wrapped low sodium/low-sugar cookies, baked chips, granola bars, fruit

cups in water, fruit rollupsvand the like. We deliver these goodies to our friends throughout

the greater Harford County and Baltimore areas.   As of January 2026, We Cancerve has donated

snack bags to 4,399 children.
