When and where?
Sunday, September 8 at Harford Sports Performance Center in Forest Hill, MD. Check-in times are from 8:45 – 10 AM and the event should end around noon. First 50 contestants to check-in will receive a Gratitude Grab bag.
How are funds being raised for the event?
Each contestant will pay $10 to shoot 10 penalty kicks. Other activities will be available at an additional cost (see “Other Activities” below). This event is being run completely on donations. 100% of the proceeds will be given to We Cancerve's Pediatric Patient Assistance Fund.
How is the competition structured? How will the day run?
Doors will open at 8:45 AM for check-in. Kids participating in the event will be directed to one of 8 goal stations based on their age (elementary, middle or high school) where they will line up to individually shoot on high school goaltenders. They will make 10 kicks and then exit the field. For safety reasons, it is important that all participants exit the field after they have completed their kicks.
This will continue until all contestants have kicked their 10 shots. Scorekeepers will keep track of all goals. The top 3 scorers from each age group will get a prize and will move on to shoot against a celebrity goalie The top scorer from that round, in each age group, will be announced the Grand Prize winners. In the event of any ties, a separate shootout will take place to determine winners.
Do I have to stay for the full 3-hour event?
NO! Come anytime from 8:45 AM – 10 AM to check-in to kick 10 PK’s. If you are a top scorer you will move on to the celebrity goalie shoot-out at 11:45 AM. If you are not a top scorer, feel free to check out the other activities available that day and stay to watch the finalists, but you are free to leave at any time.
